COMPUTER DOs AND DON'Ts 1. Pop-UpsWhen unexpected windows pop up on your computer from unknown sources, generally speaking, DO NOT follow the instructions given.(e.g. "download our anti-virus software to keep your computer safe) Just look for the 'X' box in the upper right corner and close out. Otherwise you could be downloading a virus. 2. Anti-virus programsYou should have two anti-virus programs on your computer. You need a primary one like McAfee, Norton or Microsoft Security Essentials; and a secondary such as Spyware Doctor, Malawarebytes or AVG. And you should scan your computer regularly(i.e. daily or more frequently) 3."Phishing""Phishing" email asks you to reveal personal info. This email pretends to come from a legitimate source. NEVER respond to these emails.Legitimate companies and businesses will never ask you for account info, passwords, social security numbers, birthdates, phone numbers etc.Do not respond to these emails as you will then provide these sources with your IP address. (Internet Protocol address) "Pass it on"4.Never forward an email that asks you to "pass it on". Often this is a scheme to provide someone with email addresses to develop a commercial list for SPAM emails(unwanted, unsolicited advertising mail) Blind Copy5. Ever get emails with about 50 other people's email ids on it. That is because the sender doesn't know about "BlindCopy". Why would you want everybody to see everybody else's email id. Solution: If you use Outlook Express as your email program then put your email id into the "To"  row; then click on the little address book icon next to the "CC". Now you can select the other email ids that you want to send to except after you select the name, click on the box showing Bcc. That is short for "Blind Copy". That means that all the people you select that way will get your email but each recipient will only see his/her name; not a roll call of all the people in your address book.  Block Sender6. Do you get unwanted, annoying emails that flood your email Inbox? If you get such an email you can automatically have that email sent to your "Deleted Items" folder the next time you receive email from that source. Select (highlight) the email; go to the Menu above and click on "Message"; chose "Block Sender". You will see a dialog box that will tell you that the sender has been blocked and will from then on be automatically sent to the "Delected Items" folder. It will also ask if you want that particular email sent to the "Deleted Items" folder now. You can also unblock blocked senders, at a later time if you wish.
